Residents Raise Concerns Over Poor Sanitation in Mandav Falia-Limdi Chowk Area
While the government and local civic bodies continue to promote campaigns such as “Swachhata Hi Seva” and “Swachh Survekshan”, the ground reality in parts of Jambusar paints a completely different picture. In the Mandav Falia-Limdi Chowk area, large heaps of garbage have accumulated directly beneath walls displaying cleanliness awareness slogans, exposing a stark contradiction between official campaigns and actual conditions.
According to local residents, regular waste collection and sanitation services have been lacking in the area for a considerable period. Household waste, plastic litter, and decomposing garbage remain scattered in the open, creating foul odours and an unhygienic environment. Stray animals and birds are frequently seen rummaging through the waste, further increasing concerns about public health.
With the monsoon season approaching, residents fear that stagnant rainwater mixed with garbage could become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, increasing the risk of diseases such as dengue, malaria, and other infections. Locals claim that despite repeated complaints and representations to the concerned authorities, no permanent solution has been implemented.
What has particularly angered residents is the irony that cleanliness messages painted on the walls stand directly above overflowing garbage dumps. Many citizens have questioned whether sanitation campaigns are merely symbolic exercises or if genuine efforts are being made to maintain cleanliness in the town.
Residents have urged the Jambusar Municipality to take immediate action by clearing the waste, ensuring regular garbage collection, and implementing an effective sanitation management system. They have also demanded that responsible officials visit the site personally and address the issue before it escalates into a serious public health concern.
