Chances of a major heavy-rain spell remain low, while Saurashtra and Kutch continue to face rainfall concerns
Ahmedabad: Farmers across Gujarat waiting for widespread and good rainfall may have to wait a little longer. Based on the current weather scenario, the possibility of a major spell of heavy rain across Gujarat during the next seven days appears low. However, light to moderate showers are likely in several parts of the state.
Where can rainfall be expected?
Scattered showers are likely over different parts of Gujarat during the coming days. Some areas may also witness thunderstorms accompanied by rain.
Parts of Central and North Gujarat, including areas around Ahmedabad, may experience cloudy conditions and isolated showers, providing some relief from heat and humidity.
However, the weather system required to trigger widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall is currently not showing a strong direct influence over Gujarat. Therefore, a major statewide rainfall spell is not expected at this stage.
What about the Low Pressure System?
A Low Pressure Area is currently active over Jharkhand and adjoining areas, accompanied by a cyclonic circulation. The system is expected to move gradually towards the west-northwest.
The monsoon trough also remains active. However, the current configuration does not indicate a strong possibility of widespread heavy rainfall over Gujarat during the next week.
Saurashtra and Kutch remain a concern
