Gujarat continues to reel under an intense cold wave as temperatures dip further across the state. Following snowfall in northern India, cold northeasterly winds have intensified winter conditions in Gujarat. Amid this, Naliya in Kutch has emerged as the coldest city in the state with a minimum temperature of just 4.8 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Department, most parts of Gujarat have witnessed a drop of 2 to 3 degrees in minimum temperatures over the past 24 hours. Kandla recorded a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius, adding to the severe cold conditions in the Kutch region.
Ahmedabad also experienced a significant chill, with the mercury falling to 11.7 degrees Celsius. Several other cities recorded temperatures close to or below 10 degrees, impacting daily life, especially during early mornings and late nights.
The weather department has indicated that cold conditions are likely to persist over the coming days. With continued northeasterly and easterly winds, no major relief in minimum temperatures is expected until January 14. Citizens have been advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the cold.
