Two-Month HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign Launched at Amod Community Health Centre
Amod: A comprehensive HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention campaign has been launched at the Community Health Centre in Amod by the Gujarat State AIDS Control Society (GSACS) under the Gujarat Government’s Health and Family Welfare Department.
Amod-Jambusar MLA Dev Kishor (D.K.) Swami attended the inaugural programme as the Chief Guest and formally launched the campaign by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
The two-month-long awareness drive aims to spread accurate information about HIV/AIDS, dispel misconceptions and social stigma surrounding the disease, and encourage people to adopt preventive measures and seek timely medical guidance.
Awareness Drive to Reach Schools and Villages
As part of the campaign, awareness programmes will be organised across villages, schools and colleges in Amod taluka. People will be educated about HIV prevention, transmission, testing and the importance of knowing their HIV status.
Speaking to the media, MLA D.K. Swami said that the awareness campaign would continue until May and would focus on providing people with reliable information while addressing myths and misconceptions related to HIV/AIDS.
He said that reaching the grassroots level, particularly students and rural communities, is important to ensure that people understand the disease and take appropriate preventive measures. The campaign also aims to contribute towards the vision of making the region more aware and safer from HIV/AIDS.
MLA Meets Patients and Reviews Hospital Facilities
Following the inauguration, MLA D.K. Swami, along with other political representatives, visited various wards and departments of the Amod Community Health Centre.
He personally met patients undergoing treatment, enquired about their health and interacted with them. He also held discussions with doctors and health officials regarding the functioning of the health centre, available facilities and services being provided to patients.
The visit also provided an opportunity to review healthcare arrangements and understand the issues faced by patients and medical staff.
Local doctors, health officials, nursing staff, political representatives and members of the AIDS awareness team were present during the programme.
MLA D.K. Swami also congratulated Dharmeshbhai and the AIDS department team for organising the awareness campaign and emphasised the importance of taking HIV/AIDS awareness messages to every section of society.
