Jambusar/Amod:
In a major relief for farmers in Jambusar and Amod talukas of Bharuch district, the state government has approved procurement of tur (pigeon pea) at Minimum Support Price (MSP), starting from March 18, 2026.
The initiative comes following consistent efforts by local MLA D.K. Swami. The move is expected to benefit small and marginal farmers by ensuring fair pricing for their produce and strengthening their financial stability.
Under the scheme, tur will be procured at ₹8000 per quintal. The procurement process will be managed by ‘The Nahier Vividh Karyakari Seva Sahakari Mandli Ltd.’ with support from agencies like GUJCOMASOL, NCCF, and NAFED.
A dedicated procurement center has been set up near Reva Sugar Factory on the Jambusar-Bharuch highway to facilitate smooth operations for farmers.
Farmers are required to register with necessary documents including land records (7/12, 8-A), Aadhaar card, bank details, and crop verification certificate.
Local leaders have urged farmers to take maximum benefit of the scheme. The initiative is also expected to reduce dependency on middlemen and ensure direct financial benefits to farmers, boosting the rural agricultural economy.
