A serious controversy has surfaced from the Amod Taluka Panchayat after the office was allegedly opened without authorization on a Sunday holiday. Videos circulating in the media showed the husband of Executive Committee Chairperson Amishaben Patel, Ketan Patel, seated at an official desk, raising serious questions about administrative transparency and misuse of power.
However, instead of taking strict action against those directly involved, responsibility has reportedly been shifted onto an innocent sanitation worker. The in-charge Taluka Development Officer has removed sanitation worker Ashok Solanki from duty, accusing him of facilitating the opening of the office, triggering widespread outrage.
Reacting strongly, Hirabhai Solanki, President of the Akhil Bharatiya Safai Kamgar Sangh, condemned the move, stating that influential individuals are being shielded while a poor, innocent worker is being made a scapegoat. The union has demanded immediate reinstatement of Ashok Solanki and warned that failure to do so would lead to legal action under the Atrocity Act against the TDO and DDO.
Meanwhile, the in-charge TDO stated that opening the Panchayat office and especially the accounts section on a holiday without prior approval is a serious violation. Notices have been issued to both the sanitation worker, who had custody of the keys, and the concerned accounts officer Mukesh Dabhi. A detailed report regarding possible disqualification of the elected official has also been submitted to the District Development Officer under Panchayat Act provisions.
The incident has sparked public debate over accountability, fairness, and misuse of authority. All eyes are now on the district administration to see whether impartial and strict action will be taken against the real culprits.
