Dhadhar River Bridge - JN Express

In a significant infrastructure boost for Bharuch district, the central government has approved a budget of ₹19.19 crore for the construction of a new parallel bridge over the Dhadhar River on the crucial Jambusar–Amod road. Along with the new bridge, repair and strengthening work of the existing old bridge has also been officially sanctioned.

The tender for the project has been published online, indicating that construction work is expected to commence soon. For years, residents and commuters in the region had been demanding a new bridge due to rising traffic congestion and safety concerns on the aging structure.

Old Bridge Restrictions Caused Major Inconvenience

Currently, the existing bridge over the Dhadhar River is in a deteriorated condition, allowing only vehicles up to 25 tonnes to pass. Heavy transport vehicles are forced to take longer alternate routes, leading to increased travel time, fuel consumption, and logistical costs. The new bridge is expected to permanently resolve this issue.

Economic and Industrial Growth Expected

Once operational, the new bridge will ensure smooth movement of heavy vehicles, providing a major boost to local industries, agricultural transport, and trade activities. The project is being seen as a key step toward strengthening the region’s economic infrastructure.

Efforts of Local Leaders Bear Fruit

The approval comes after persistent efforts by local MLA D.K. Swami and Bharuch MP Mansukhbhai Vasava, who raised the issue at the central level. Residents of Jambusar and Amod have expressed gratitude to both leaders for addressing this long-pending demand.

With the completion of the new bridge, traffic on the Jambusar–Amod route is expected to become safer, faster, and more efficient.
