Demand for a special police drive across Jambusar taluka against illegal liquor sales, transportation and supply chains

Despite prohibition laws being in force in Gujarat, concerns over the illegal sale and transportation of liquor continue to surface in various parts of the state. Against this backdrop, the Jambusar Taluka Congress Committee and Jambusar City Congress Committee have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP), Jambusar Division, demanding strict and effective action against the illegal liquor network operating in the taluka.
According to the memorandum, despite the prohibition law, illegal liquor networks continue to pose a serious threat to public safety and can put innocent lives at risk. Congress referred to the recent alleged toxic liquor incident in the Kharkhadi area of Bhavnagar district and stressed the need for effective and impartial enforcement by the police administration to prevent such incidents.
Demand for Special Police Drive
Congress has urged the police administration to launch a special drive across all villages of Jambusar taluka against the illegal sale and transportation of liquor.
The memorandum also called for strict legal action not only against bootleggers but also against main suppliers, members of the supply chain and vehicles allegedly used for transportation of illegal liquor.
Increased Patrolling and Intelligence Gathering
Congress has further demanded increased police patrolling and confidential intelligence operations in sensitive areas.
It has also sought preventive action against habitual offenders and urged authorities to maintain special vigilance over the illegal use or handling of toxic substances such as methanol, particularly in connection with the illegal liquor trade.
The memorandum also called for protection for people who report illegal liquor activities and urged the police to conduct serious investigations whenever complaints are received from any area.
‘Jambusar Must Be Freed From Illegal Liquor Network’
Congress leaders stated that the loss of life caused by illegal or toxic liquor can have devastating consequences for families. They therefore demanded immediate action to curb the illegal liquor network and called for a dedicated police drive to make Jambusar taluka free from the threat of illegal and toxic liquor.
The memorandum was submitted by Jambusar Taluka Congress Committee president Sharadsinh Rana and Jambusar City Congress Committee president Irfan Patel.
The memorandum is dated August 24, 2026, and was submitted at Jambusar.
