After prolonged public inconvenience and mounting political pressure, authorities have finally initiated repair work on National Highway-64, a crucial route connecting Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The stretch near Amod Chowkdi had deteriorated badly, with deep potholes and heavy dust causing daily hardship for commuters and residents.
Two days ago, an aggressive protest led by Amod Taluka Congress President Narendra Patel brought the issue to the forefront. The Congress party accused the administration and government of negligence, highlighting risks to public health and road safety. Protesters even challenged the local MLA to visit the site and witness the condition firsthand.
Responding to the protest and growing public outrage, the Roads and Buildings Department has begun immediate repair work, including filling potholes and reducing dust levels. While commuters have experienced partial relief, citizens have urged authorities to ensure permanent, high-quality repairs rather than temporary fixes.
Local residents hope that sustained and durable improvement of NH-64 will prevent future accidents and health hazards.
