The main market area of Jambusar, particularly near the Police Gate, is facing serious civic issues due to an overflowing drainage tank, causing widespread inconvenience to traders and residents.

Every morning, as the tank fills up, wastewater overflows onto the road and spreads up to the Soni Chakla area, mixing with mud and sludge. This has made the roads extremely slippery, increasing the risk of two-wheeler skidding and road accidents.

Shoppers visiting the market are struggling to move through the area, while senior citizens, women and children are facing the most difficulty. The lack of proper cleaning has also led to persistent foul smell, severely affecting the business environment.

Traders point out that a Merchant Maha Association was formed around two years ago to address civic issues and meetings were held with authorities. However, the association is now allegedly inactive, allowing market problems to worsen day by day.

Apart from sanitation issues, unauthorized shop extensions, haphazard parking and violation of one-way traffic rules have resulted in frequent traffic congestion, causing daily hardship to both customers and shopkeepers.

Local traders and residents have demanded:

  • Immediate and permanent solution to the drainage overflow problem
  • Regular and effective sanitation in the market area
  • Strict enforcement of traffic and parking regulations

If timely action is not taken, the situation in Jambusar’s main market is likely to deteriorate further. The pressing question remains: when will the municipality, trader bodies and administration take responsibility and act?
