In a proud moment for Gujarat’s industrial sector, Amod-based KP Group has taken a significant global leap by signing a historic agreement with the Government of the Republic of Botswana in the renewable energy sector. Under this partnership, KP Group will invest nearly $4 billion (₹36,000 crore) to develop 5 GW of solar and wind energy projects in Botswana.
This strategic collaboration follows the recent visit of Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to Botswana and marks a new chapter in India–Africa energy cooperation. The project will play a crucial role in helping Botswana achieve its goal of becoming a net-zero country by 2030.
Beyond power generation, the initiative also includes the development of high-voltage transmission lines and battery energy storage systems, enabling Botswana to export clean energy to neighboring countries.
Focus on Education and Skill Development
As part of the agreement, KP Group will provide annual scholarships to 30 meritorious students from Botswana for higher education in renewable energy and engineering, contributing significantly to local skill development and capacity building.
KP Group Chairman Dr. Faruk G. Patel described the agreement as a milestone in the group’s international expansion, emphasizing that the partnership will generate long-term economic and environmental value. Botswana’s Energy Minister also termed the project a foundation stone for the country’s future energy security.
