Jambusar:
Swaminarayan Society, located near the railway crossing in Jambusar, is currently grappling with multiple civic issues, leaving over 500 residents struggling for basic amenities. The situation has raised serious concerns over administrative negligence and lack of timely intervention.

The underground drainage system in the society, which is over 45 years old, has become inadequate due to population growth. A new drainage project worth approximately ₹32.75 crore under the Mukhyamantri Swarnim Yojana has been initiated. However, residents allege serious irregularities in the execution of the work.

According to locals, smaller pipes are being installed, joints are not properly sealed, and dug-up areas are not being refilled correctly. This has raised fears that the newly constructed system may fail in the near future. Opposition leader Sakir Malek has also reportedly submitted a written representation to the Chief Minister regarding these issues.

One of the most pressing concerns is the drinking water crisis. During the drainage work, the water supply pipeline was damaged, resulting in leakage and reduced water pressure. In the peak summer season, residents are facing acute water shortages. Despite repeated complaints to the municipality, no concrete action has been taken so far.

Additionally, trenches dug by GEB for underground cabling have been left incomplete, causing inconvenience and safety risks for residents. The absence of functioning streetlights has plunged the area into darkness at night, raising security concerns, especially for women and working individuals returning home late.

Frequent drainage overflow has further worsened the situation, leading to foul smell and mosquito breeding, posing serious health risks. Residents say it has become difficult to even sit outside their homes due to unhygienic conditions.

Encroachments within the society have also narrowed internal roads, reducing accessibility and increasing traffic-related problems.

Residents are now demanding immediate action from the authorities to address these issues. They have urged the administration to ensure proper implementation of development works and restore basic civic amenities without further delay.
